YouTube is making changes to its data analytics display in response to user feedback. Some users found the upfront comparison data in the YouTube Studio app to be unhelpful or discouraging. In particular, the insight into comparative video performance based on normal response rates could be disheartening for some creators.
To address this, YouTube is introducing a collapsible info card which will allow users to choose whether or not to view this information. The collapsed setting will persist across sessions, even if switching to another channel.
In addition, YouTube is rolling out new weekly and monthly recaps of channel performance. These recaps provide a more generic overview of key stats, reducing the need for users to sift through the data themselves. The recaps also incorporate gamification elements to make analytics more enjoyable and reduce the pressure some creators feel when analyzing their performance.
Both updates aim to alleviate the pressure associated with raw numbers and create a more positive experience for creators. By re-angling the way analytics are presented, YouTube hopes to shift perception and reduce any stress that may discourage creators from their efforts.
These updates will be rolling out to YouTube Studio users on both web and mobile platforms in the coming days. Stay tuned for a more user-friendly and engaging analytics experience on YouTube.
