YouTube has added a new option to add voiceover to short-form clips in the app.*
“Add another layer of creative expression to your Shorts by narrating what happens in your content (think: instructions, explanations, reactions, funny comments, or even adding your own new sounds and beyond)”
This capability has been available on TikTok and Instagram Reels and now YouTube is the latest to join in this feature. The new option will provide creators with more freedom within their Shorts and could help to improve the presentation as well as the popularity of this video format.
Since its release, Shorts on YouTube have grown 1.5 billion people – which means roughly 75% of YouTube’s uses Shorts regularly.
With this evidence, if you are a creator or brand you should be considering how Shorts may fit into your marketing or video strategy. It’s clear that YouTube is pushing short-form posts. YouTube has also implemented new monetization options for Shorts, allowing creators to use YouTube to make a living in exchange for helping to maintain its place as the leader in online video distribution.
