In a bid to enhance user engagement, X is rolling out new live streaming features, aiming to simplify the process for both its audio Spaces and video broadcasting options. The revamped approach includes intuitive functionalities, such as double-tap for Like and swipe to reply, offering users more direct engagement without the need for explicit icons cluttering the interface.
While live streaming has been available on X/Twitter for a while, it hasn’t gained significant traction. However, X sees potential in live-streaming, especially with the rise of gaming content.

With the addition of game streaming, gaming creators can tap into their established X audiences, creating a new avenue for content delivery. Additionally, X aims to promote “citizen journalism,” positioning itself as a go-to platform for breaking news coverage.
Yet, live streaming faces challenges. Real-time, in-the-moment content creation is a skill, and many streams often lack the polish and entertainment value of professional podcasts or short-form videos. While live streams excel at covering breaking news events, they struggle to maintain audience interest for ongoing, regular broadcasts. However, X hopes to spotlight outstanding broadcasters, potentially revitalizing interest in its live elements.
Despite the challenges, X’s commitment to expanding live streaming options suggests a broader effort to diversify the platform’s content. While the exact rollout date for these new features remains unconfirmed, X’s push toward a more versatile app experience is evident. Or, maybe they’re scrambling to keep users engaged with the platform. Only Elon knows.
