TikTok continues to dominate the field when it comes to popular platforms, especially among younger users. It seems, though, that the momentum is finally slowing down after the app’s rise to popularity over the last few years. A report from AppFigures shows TikTok was once again the most downloaded app in November, followed by Instagram, Facebook and TikTok editing app CapCut.
Check out the image above to compare the markets on both iOS and Android. You can see that Meta remains popular while the overall rise of CapCut once again points to the influence of TikTok, and the expanded opportunity for the app to facilitate new trends and monetization opportunities. However, according to recent data from Sensor Tower US downloads of TikTok have declined almost 33% year-over-year in November.
While a growth plateau is to be expected, it’s important to note that other apps such as Meta and WhatsApp have continued to experience momentum in downloading patterns while TikTok has slowed. Despite the data, there’s no denying that ˇTikTok is still one of (if not THE) most popular social media platforms. Perhaps growth in the future will be restricted to younger audiences, much like Snapchat. Though even then, TikTok’s growth trends have exploded past its competitors.
What does the future look like for TikTok? There’s no telling what’s in store for the platform in 2023.
