In an effort to assist the average advertizer experience on the platform, Tiktok has added a new, automated ad process called Smart Performance Campaigns.
“Smart Performance Campaign is our first end to end automation solution that leverages machine learning to optimize for best performance and marketing goals. In order to reach the right people and maximize results, Smart Performance Campaign is designed to run performance campaigns at scale, while reducing the number of manual steps to drive results.”
Using this option will take much of the trouble and confusion associated with ad targeting and optimization, but it will also require the advertiser to hand the reigns over to Tiktok almost entirely.

It’s no secret that automated software has become more and more effective, and this seems to be following a trend of automated targeting systems.These kinds of systems can be great for new users who may be unfamiliar with more traditional, or more effective, means of targeting potential customers and optimizing ad dollars.
