Pinterest has added support for Afrikaans, Croatian and Bulgarian language Pins, broadening global accessibility in the app.
Pinterest says:
“Every month more than 400 million people come to Pinterest to find the inspiration they need to create the life they love. With millions of Pins in Afrikaans, Croatian and Bulgarian already on the platform, it’s now easier than ever for Pinners to discover fresh ideas, and get inspired for their life’s projects in their preferred language.”
There’s no doubt these additions will add possibilities for further global reach of one’s business. In fact, international expansion and business opportunities are a key focus for Pinterest. Currently, the majority of users on the platform are outside of the US but Pinterest still generates almost 84% of its income from North American users. Which reasonably begs the question, what markets are they losing out on?
The chart above also breaks down the average revenue per user based on location and you can see how much more valuable users in North America are but to some this reads as opportunity in untapped markets.
Pinterest has also been expanding access to its ad tools globally, with Pinterest ads having recently launched in Argentina, Chile, and Colombia. And expanding access to ads is critical in maximizing its revenue potential. If Pinterest can provide more connections and business options in more regions, there is significant opportunity to increase revenue. Reasonably, this all begins with language support, so this announcement means that Pinterest is now available in 41 languages, and we can guarantee you more are coming.
You can choose an alternative language on Pinterest via your device settings, with Pinterest aligning with system defaults.
