Heads up, LinkedIn users! Changes are coming as LinkedIn prepares to bid farewell to carousel posts, profile videos, and in-image linking features. According to LinkedIn’s recent announcement, these impending adjustments will not only remove previously shared carousels but also deactivate in-image links.
LinkedIn says, “Starting on December 14th, 2023, we’ll be removing all carousels and profile videos from LinkedIn. If you embedded clickable links within any image or video, please note that your content will remain, but the clickable links will no longer work. You can still share external links in the description of any post.”
This forthcoming alteration was first revealed by LinkedIn in June, apparently due to a perceived lack of user engagement with these functionalities. Despite the significant engagement carousel posts generated, LinkedIn’s native carousel posting option, introduced in July last year, will soon become obsolete. Users looking to continue posting carousels will need to revert to the previous workaround involving uploading PDFs as separate slides.
Introduced in 2021, profile videos failed to gain considerable traction, while clickable links in images, added in August last year, will also be removed from the platform’s posting options.
It’s essential to prepare for these upcoming changes and consider their impact on your LinkedIn strategy. Additionally, LinkedIn is providing an option for users to request a copy of their profile videos or files from their carousel posts by contacting contentsupport@linkedIn.com before December 11th.
